Zane, Zane Bo Bane!
(Yes, we do call you that sometimes!)
We cannot believe you are already 7 months old! What a month!
You have begun…
-Teething: You cut
your first two bottom teeth. At the peak
of it (when it got really fun) we gave you Infant Advil frequently; however,
you’ve now decided you HATE medicine (more fun) and so we sometimes sneak it into
the your bottle rather than putting up a fight.
But, really, we’ve sort of come to the conclusion that the Advil is
short lived and not that helpful, so we’ve stocked you up on some chew toys
which seem to give you some relief. We
don’t leave the house without them!
-Loving Riese: It was
almost the moment you turned 6 months old that both you and Riese grew a special
bond. Prior to then you were just
disinterested in one another. Now you cannot
get enough of Riese. And despite your
“squeezes” Riese still loves you. Riese
will often join us in your room when we feed you, but if you hear that she’s in
the room or in the hall it’s all over- You must find out what she’s doing. It’s really cute except when we’re trying to
get you to sleep.
-Eating pureed food:
I (mom) was extra excited about starting you on food. I planned, bought, organized, read, stocked…
all in preparation for you to begin eating.
Little did I know you were going to be a hard sell on the food. You mostly like to play with the food, but
you’re getting the hang of it slowly but surely.
-Eating Mum Mums: We
really weren’t sure that you were old enough for these and we were hesitant to
try them because they are not nutritious (despite the fact that they say “organic”
on the packaging), but you love putting these in your mouth as they get mushy
and sort of dissolve. We look at it more
as an “activity” than actually eating. It
puzzles us that you’re not interested in yummy organic fruits and veggies, but
you love rice/starch/sugar tasteless crackers.
-Sitting up: and
therefore….
-Sitting in a high chair and shopping cart: We love taking you places. Lots of people comment, “He is adorable!”
-Riding in your big boy car seat: You continue to like riding in the car. There was one time this month when you wouldn’t
fall asleep so I (mom) drove you around the neighborhood for 5 minutes until
you were out and then I transferred you to the crib. (That transfer works about 75% of the time. It was worth the try that night.)
-Wearing shoes: Your
aunt Carol gave you some adorable (size 3) Nike shoes and although you’re not
walking yet we want you to wear them before they get too small.
Before we went to our Square One class at church
-Playing in the bath:
You’ve always liked the bath, but you’re now at an age where you really
like to play with your toys and splash.
Actually, your favorite thing to do is find the wash cloth and suck on
it, but we try to limit your soap intake (even though it’s expensive organic
stuff). It’s always tempting to take
pictures of you ever single bath time because you are so cute. We especially love all your muscle rolls.

You continue to…
-Look up: Ever since
you were itty bitty you have loved to look up.
Ceiling fans are your favorite!
You and your dad at your 1st Rangers Game
-Love the outdoors: I remember Yaya singing the Willie Nelson song “Blue Skys” to you on the back porch in Kanginima because you loved to look at those blue skys. Bringing you outside (even if it’s been over 100 degrees most days this summer) always makes you happy.
-Melt our hearts: We
think everything you do is precious.
XOXO,
Mom and Dad
