Uganda Adoption Timeline

08.2010 Applied for adoption through Generations Adoptions agency

10.2010 Put our Uganda adoption on hold due to Rwanda adoption uncertainties

08.2011 Re-applied for adoption through Generations

01.28.12 Heard about Zane Moses-Mukisa (not through our agency)

02.01.12 God made it clear we should "go"- began the process of an independent adoption

02.12.12 Met our son for the 1st time

02.16.12 Ugandan courts granted us temporary custody

05.03.12 Ugandan courts granted us full guardianship

05.21.12 US Embassy granted Zane his VISA

05.26.12 Arrived home in Dallas, TX

06.15.12 #1 Post Placement Home Visit

06.17.12 #2 Post Placement Home Visit

08.24.12 Dallas court ruled Zane a "Kohlbacher"

01.01.10 Filled out adoption agency application

01.02.10 Mailed our adoption agency application

01.25.10 Agency application approved, started paper chase

01.26.10 Submitted initial program fee and agency agreement

02.23.10 Submitted our initial home study documents

03.03.10 Isaac done with Hague

03.10.10 Tara done with Hague

03.13.10 First home study interview with our assigned social worker

04.19.10 Completed 3 mandatory sessions with a licensed marriage & family counselor

04.30.10 Second home study interview

05.02.10 Third home study interview

05.19.10 Health home inspection

05.25.10 Reviewed our drafted home study report

06.02.10 Received the final draft of our home study

06.03.10 Mailed our I-600A form to USCIS

06.15.10 Fingerprint appointment for the USCIS

08.25.10 Rwanda announced they are no longer taking dossiers unless delivered to the Ministry by 8.31.10

08.26.10 The Ministry in Rwanda changes the announcement to specifically state Dossiers received by "ANY RWANDAN EMBASSY" by the deadline of would be processed.

08.27.10 Are encouraged to try and get our Dossier certified/authenticated and to the Rwandan Embassy in Washington DC. Drove to Austin to get state certification.

08.27.10 When we got home from Austin, the I-171h was in the mailbox. Dossier complete!

08.29.10 Flew to DC to be there first thing Monday morning for federal authentication

08.30.10 Took Dossier to the Embassy of Rwanda - prayed a lot

08.31.10 Last day Rwanda accepted Dossiers. We received our completed Dossier back with all the pages stamped and with the non-objection letter! Back to being paper-pregnant.

09.04.10 Mailed our Dossier with the Jacobs to Rwanda.

09.08.10 DTR (Dossier to Rwanda)

06.22.11 Approved

08.08.11 Approval Signed
